IMPORTANT: UK tariff code updates 2022

IMPORTANT: UK tariff code updates 2022

From 1st January 2022, traders will need to implement changes to tariff codes

The UK introduced its 2022 Integrated Tariff at the beginning of the year, which incorporates the World Customs Organisation (WCO) changes to the Harmonised System (HS) Nomenclature.

What does this mean?

  • For Imports, it will require updating tariff codes to the 10 digit level.
  • Export tariff codes will be required to the 8 digit level.

Failure to record the correct 2022 classification code on customs entries will result in your goods being rejected by HMRC.

What should you do?

Businesses should review import and export tariff codes and update item master files accordingly
