Full customs controls and checks began on 1st January 2022 for goods imported from the EU. Were you ready for these changes?

On 12th April International Trade Specialist Frances Fawcett and Hampshire Chamber of Commerce are delivering a webinar via Zoom that will discuss the changes that were implemented this year.

Importing processes have changed since the UK’s departure from the EU and the Government has been introducing these in stages, giving businesses time to adjust.

From the 1st January 2022 full Import Customs Declarations became mandatory and can no longer be delayed. You can complete these declarations or use an agent BUT even if using an agent, the legal responsibility for accuracy of the information included falls to the importer. It is therefore vital that importers are aware of their procedural and financial obligations and have the records needed.

As an importer you need to review whether you have processes in place for import declarations, whether you are calculating and paying duty correctly, and whether your import VAT is managed properly.

If these are taken care of by your transporters, have you verified that they have taken place correctly and ensured the right charges have been made? Have you checked your Postponed VAT Accounting statements for accuracy?

Join us on 12th April at 2.30pm to find out what those changes have been and if you are up to date and fully compliant.
