Having forged an early career in Advertising Account Management for leading agencies including Saatchi & Saatchi, Phil spent 20 years working in the challenging Middle-East and North Africa (MENA) region in countries including Libya, Syria, Lebanon, UAE and Saudi Arabia and working with blue chip western and Middle-Eastern companies including Atex Media plc and the Bin Laden Group.
Phil helped build up a successful Dubai based consultancy, Trans Arabian Corporation LLC which offered a complete business development service to western companies with high-yield sales potential in the MENA region. The firm undertook market analysis, strategic planning and the full end-to-end sales process on behalf of its clients and where required, a full after-sales partner management programme. TAC clients were mainly in technical industries where a good understanding of product benefits, differentiators and the legislative framework were pre-requisites and being a quick learner an essential attribute.
In 2010 Phil joined Maracay AG, a Swiss/British project funding and management company providing a comprehensive range of professional services to private individuals as well as medium sized corporations in the MENA region. Maracay AG’s project funding and private lending capability focused upon providing wealth enhancement based solutions to fulfil borrowers’ complex project funding needs. Project compliance with legal, social, environmental and political frameworks were essential pre-requisites. Projects funded included water desalination technologies, solar power plants, portable accommodation and hospital projects across the region.
